As a winery, Don Sebastiani & Sons has an interesting take on podcasting. They have over 40 audio podcasts, each describing details and tasting notes of the wines they offer. They also recently released a round of really well produced video podcasts, which provide an unique perspective into the company and their winemaking techniques. Certainly worth checking out if you’re interested in wine.

From their site: “For quite sometime, my good friend Charles Lowell and I have been doing a podcast. Our topics are usually unplanned, ad hoc, and fully Agile. No matter what, we make sure to live up to our motto: “better than half the stuff out there.”“

For all those who like The Word Nerds, I can’t recommend highly enough the late John Ciardi’s On Words. The episodes never last as long as I’d like, but his carefully crafted explanations are packed with clever puns, double-entendres, and etymological inside jokes.
For about the same amount of word nerdery as a single “On Words” episode, but stretched out to a fifty-minute call-in show, check out KPBS’s A Way with Words. It’s quaint and contemporary, and yet most episodes include several references to the Oxford English Dictionary.

For foodies like myself, it’s really hard to beat Good Food, produced by Santa Monica’s KCRW station. One of my favorite features is the “Market Report”, wherein their roving reporter visits the local Farmer’s Market, chatting with all the producers. The most amazing and wonderful things on Earth grow there in California…unlike my native Minnesota. sigh.

Oh, and also Mac OS Ken. Ken Ray, formerly of Inside Mac Radio (the only good host on that show…), now has his own Mac podcast. Updated early in the morning. Brilliant stuff.

I’m tired of listening to the music I know about over and over again, I want to hear only it intentionally, and not get tired of it using random on all my library while working.
So I go random on things I find here :
http://www.moistworks.com
(audio blog, no podcast feed, I use Sitesucker with a filter on only audio links, once in a while :)
These guys talk about things they like, give a lot of info around their music propositions ; they follow different patterns to do their posts (theme, like “N.Y.C.”, a jazz classical over several artists, some artist at some moment of his musical career…) witch is quite instructive while making us discover things.
Great very diverse music to discover. Enjoy

My favourite is Shane and Tom’s Squeezebox based in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. A graphic designer and a bar owner hang out and bust each up week after week. Second only to The Ricky Gervais Show in hoots per minute…then again, Ricky charges now.
