I’ve been using Favrd for a while – which is usually worth a laugh or two.

Other than that – nothing! I’m interested to see what people post up as I’m relatively new to the Twitter scene.

Ben 01 Jul 08

My favorite was http://twitter.com/37signals

... until they stopped updating/posting to it.

Ross 01 Jul 08

Oh snap I mis-understood what you meant by feed :P

Zeldman (of zeldman.com) is on mine.

I’d read 37S (and it’s members) if it updated more regulary than the blog (and with different content) :)

Ryan 01 Jul 08

I really love http://twitter.com/techmemefh – great way to keep up on tech news.

Garrett Murray 01 Jul 08

Personally, I enjoy Hobo Jones and his wacky adventures:

http://twitter.com/hobojones

Wade Winningham 01 Jul 08

My favorite is writer Warren Ellis who posts frequently and always hilarious. His feed is the only one I backtrack to make sure I didn’t miss any posts.

IndiMonk 01 Jul 08

I enjoy Diggnation a lot, so – http://www.twitter.com/kevinrose and http://twitter.com/alexalbrecht

Darrin 01 Jul 08

Roz Savage – a non-tech Twitterer rowing across the Pacific Ocean.

Bryce 01 Jul 08

ShaniquaB is kind of a non-work-safe collaborative art project I like to follow.

Jack 01 Jul 08

it’s not even close: someecards

John 01 Jul 08

http://twitter.com/MarsPhoenix

Because that’s where I heard we had Ice on Mars. It just honestly boggles my mind to think we’ve got man-made stuff on another planet.

The team keeps the feed updated well (and even answers the occasional question).

Fascinating.

Joshua Blankenship 01 Jul 08

It’s an odd thing, for the most part, I only follow folks I actually know, whether in person or online. Twitter is rampant on our large-ish staff, so it’s a nice way to keep track of our culture and stay in the loop. It seems to add the most value to me in terms of actual personal relationships.

The major exception to that would of course be twitter.com/CobraCommander. I follow him because I am a huge nerd.

Jon Gretar Borgthorsson 01 Jul 08

Aprat from @JonGretar of course ;), I like @MarsPhoenix, @giagia, @starstryder and @BadAstronomer. Mostly because I’m a bit of a science/astronomy buff. I also like following the Revision3 people to grow my inner geek.

ML 01 Jul 08

My favorite was http://twitter.com/37signals

We’ve been slow with updates to our twitter feed due to some tech obstacles but we hope to be back to full time tweeting soon. In the meanwhile, we’re curious to see what others are digging there.

Kyle Maxwell 01 Jul 08

Directly, http://twitter.com/matthewbaldwin is great. But I use RSS feeds of summize.com searches for several things.

Jared McFarland 01 Jul 08

The tweets I look forward to the most are:

Jepch Jacques Heather Cee Sam Stephenson

Nathan Clark 01 Jul 08

Blankenship’s must be an evil nerd – http://twitter.com/generalhawk is the way to go for the good guys.

http://twitter.com/rawkhawk is good for twittered album reviews too.

Jeff 01 Jul 08

Tech obstacles? You have a browser, right? If not, you should totally download Firefox or something.

Rick 01 Jul 08

Life of a frustrated web designer @masuga

Mark 01 Jul 08

RUWTsevere – it’s like your friend that screams into the phone telling you to turn on the game.

Keith 01 Jul 08

I enjoy blogs, but for some reason I just don’t “get” twitter. Joshua mentioned staying attuned to “culture” through it.

I’d love to hear how folks are specifically finding value through twitter vs. blogs or other communication tools.

I am admittedly just not in the know on the appeal of Twitter because I think I just haven’t had someone explain it and the various uses for it!

Rick 01 Jul 08

I really like @winetweets. Lots of wine recommendations.

Phil Dokas 01 Jul 08

http://twitter.com/lowflyingrocks so I can get an SMS four hours after the giant asteroid hits!

But seriously, my hosting company Segpub has a twitter account and it’s a wonderful way to get status updates pushed to me.

Chris Lloyd 01 Jul 08

Craig Kocur 01 Jul 08

http://twitter.com/hotdogsladies

Merlin makes me laugh out loud.

DHS 01 Jul 08

textism: witty, not too much @chat.

Anonymous Coward 01 Jul 08

@SH What about automatically tweet you last blog posts ? I wrote a howto on my blog, there :

http://kevinbongart.net/blog/2008/02/15/mettre-son-twitter-a-jour-en-fonction-de-son-statut-facebook/

It’s for Facebook statuses, but it also works with other RSS feeds.

Raphael Campardou 01 Jul 08

I like @rands, @gruber & @ilovetypography.

I don’t really like corporate feeds, including 37signals; for me, Twitter is a more human flow. I’d love to see 37s employees’ feeds though.

doug 01 Jul 08

Def hotdogsladies aka Merlin Mann http://twitter.com/hotdogsladies

Ryan J. Markel 01 Jul 08

The Amazon mp3 Daily Deal, where a tweet is posted when an album goes on sale for some ridiculous price like $1.99 or $2.99.

PJ Cabrera 01 Jul 08

My favorite Twiiter feed is the fail whale. You see it at every Twitter URL , all the time!

LOL , seriously now. Why would I follow a feed at a site that’s down? Get a clue, get on FriendFeed

Will 01 Jul 08

So far, I’ve had no desire to use Twitter. I don’t follow anybody, I don’t use it myself.

Call me an outlier, but I just don’t see the point. There is no one I know (online or in real life) who I want to be so constantly updated on that checking their blog at my leisure won’t do the trick.

I don’t doubt that most people find Twitter fascinating, but I do not.

Just my 2 cents – not trying to troll.

Chad Crowell 01 Jul 08

Second for hotdogsladies (Merlin) and also love soupysales for a laugh.

Jeremiah Staes 01 Jul 08

I have to echo @hotdogsladies he’s hilarious.

Jemaleddin S. Cole 01 Jul 08

fireland – hysterical.

David Whittle 01 Jul 08

Joseph Kimojino’s tweets from the Masai Mara put the chatter into perspective. http://twitter.com/maratriangle

Chris Jones 01 Jul 08

Codinghorror – http://twitter.com/codinghorror Wil Shipley – http://twitter.com/wilshipley Wil Wheaton – http://twitter.com/wilw

Bruce Stewart 01 Jul 08

I (@bas1809) am a fan of @gapingvoid. His travels to and from the back of beyond in Alpine, TX are always engaging, as is his cartooning and art.

FredS 01 Jul 08

Zeldman is pretty entertaining.

Alex M 01 Jul 08

@Keith: There’s nothing to get. People use it because most mobile devices are poorly designed and have lame browsers.

It’s a blog restricted to very small posts, essentially just a single hyper link or facebook-style status update. It’s for people with CrackBerry’s.

That aside, I would recommend: Max Gladwell for his tweets on social media and green living.

Happy White Man 01 Jul 08

I enjoy following twitter.com/iTod. He updates regularly with news about Fluid.app.

Thom 01 Jul 08

@towerbridge is a wonderful example of why twitter is great. (likewise @marsphoenix) @warrenellis is always hilarious

Don Schenck 01 Jul 08

@Will: Hear, hear.

I’m too busy working on my book (hat tip to Sarah and Jason). “Then the DVD …”

Adam 01 Jul 08

without doubt: http://twitter.com/darthvader

consistently funny.

David Andersen 01 Jul 08

Twitter seems like yet another escalation in narcissism. Most of what I’ve seen are people broadcasting meaningless trivia about themselves. What’s the point? How did civilization survive without knowing that Johnny Hotster was having a bagel on 5th street or that he just downloaded Coldplay’s latest single? Who cares?

Yeah, call me a troll, I don’t care.

Oh, by the way, I just pulled up my socks. I think I’ll go eat a sandwich now.

Brent 01 Jul 08

nivi because he consistently makes me stop and think about what i’m doing. and andy_house because it is weird.

Corey 01 Jul 08

Jeff Atwood (Coding Horror) is my fav to follow.

http://twitter.com/codinghorror

he updates all day long with witty and interesting tweets

Aaron Quinn 01 Jul 08

I would have to chime-in for twitter.com/zeldman. A few of my favorites are 1 and 2. His tweets on raising a child, travel, and NY are classic.

Sam 01 Jul 08

Going for the “little known” angle instead of the super-popular stuff I’m seeing here, I recently saw http://twitter.com/inthefuture and thought it was a funny idea.

CB 01 Jul 08

twitter.com/syted – daily dose of pithy quotes.

Ro 01 Jul 08

hmmm…. can’t make up my mind between twitter.com/fakebarackobama and twitter.com/facejohnmccain. Seriously though, my favs are just individual people I know that are funny.

Some of the ones on this comment thread are great!

Rachael Hampton 01 Jul 08

http://twitter.com/chrisbrogan tons of tips and seem like a nice guy !

Mike 01 Jul 08

@fireland – Quirky humor, sometimes a bit PG-13, but always funny

Steven Walker 01 Jul 08

Merlin Mann @hotdogsladies I like his quip like banter. Its a quick and always witty jest about the day to day. Funny. Kinda like www.fullquip.com Love the idea of making someone laugh in one sentence.

Jeff Woelker 01 Jul 08

Does Friendfeed count? At least it’s up.

If not, I check out Leo Laporte’s: http://twitter.com/leolaporte

Or there’s mine :) http://twitter.com/JeffWoelker

jan korbel 01 Jul 08

To choose one, it would be @hotdogsladies. Closely behind is @gruber.

Xavier 01 Jul 08

“We’ve been slow with updates to our twitter feed due to some tech obstacles but we hope to be back to full time tweeting soon. In the meanwhile, we’re curious to see what others are digging there.”

Are those tech obstacles related to twitter being developed using the Rails framework?

Steve S. 01 Jul 08

There’s a great list of 50+ Designers to follow over at – http://vandelaydesign.com/blog/social-media/designers-on-twitter/

I enjoy @zeldman, @meyerweb, @vpieters (Veerle), @tonychester (OnWired), & @markboulton

Keith 01 Jul 08

It is very interesting checking out some of these twitter feeds. Good suggestions! Keep em coming!

Scott Purdie 01 Jul 08

http://twitter.com/jeffpulver is always great for a reality check and some useful advice.

Chris 01 Jul 08

I keep my list of followers down, but here’s a few lesser knowns that I enjoy:

http://twitter.com/sambrown http://twitter.com/danbenjamin

And a mad scientist that I is dead funny:

http://twitter.com/dezene

Benedict 01 Jul 08

@garvee – Gary Vaynerchuk always has energetic tweets

also, who knew, John Cleese is on twitter too @JohnCleese definitely would like to see him tweet more

Jason DiMambro 01 Jul 08

I would have to say that my favorite Twitter feed is that of John Gruber’s wife, Amy Jane Gruber. That woman is absolutely hysterical! I need to write a script that automatically favorites every one of her tweets. Good stuff!

http://twitter.com/AmyJane

...John, your Twitter feed ain’t so bad either. :-)

Travis Schmeisser 01 Jul 08

I too have to vote for http://twitter.com/CobraCommander He always inserts a proper amount of ridiculous into my day.

Chris Ricca 01 Jul 08

@fredwilson consistently engages in great conversations with the people around him. I recommend a follow.

John Topley 01 Jul 08

Darth Vader of course! http://twitter.com/darthvader

Bronwyn Jones 01 Jul 08

London’s Tower Bridge: http://twitter.com/towerbridge

I find its constancy quite soothing.

“I am opening…” “I am closing…” “I am opening…” “I am closing…”

Jed 01 Jul 08

@cybersechs because i need more romance in my life

Jeff Ventura 01 Jul 08

I work for a small, progressive consulting company who bought into my visions of starting a blog and Twitter feed under the company name. So, with S v. N as my inspiration (the best company blog out there, IMHO ) I started my employer’s Twitter feed and blog in the hopes that they become something that’s a mix of Daring Fireball, S v. N, Scoble and a few of the better ZDNet business blogs/feeds, all wrapped into one.

There’s a right way and wrong way to do things, and I’m hoping I’m doing things the right way in order to attract an intelligent audience.

On a personal level, my favorite feeds are John Gruber, Daniel Jalkut and Steve Rubel.

emdot 01 Jul 08

Merlin Mann and SoupySales as others have said. Besides people I know in real life, I’m on Twitter for the little jokes that get thrown around throughout the day. For that I recommend Favrd.com (as someone said that the top)—check out the tweets that are featured here and pretty soon you will find some great people to follow.

Some recent faves: Heather Champ, FarkerPeaceBoy, and Apelad.

Al Abut 01 Jul 08

And another vote for Fireland. It’s the genuinely funny and twisted shit I wish I could come up with.

His interview on Dooce is a classic as well: http://dooce.com/2008/06/12/apologies-advance-mr-hamilton

Jane Quigley 01 Jul 08

Another vote for @AmyJane – I make a point of looking at her page once a day when I need a laugh (she’s smart, sarcastic and funny as hell). Also @scottsimpson (found via @Gruber) – ditto on the funny.

dusoft 01 Jul 08

I am rather new to the whole Twitter thing, but Zeldman does it for me.

Bruno Miranda 01 Jul 08

I follow http://www.twitter.com/tastyplanner for the awesome food articles.

Mark 01 Jul 08

Without a doubt, for social media busines and reflection, a Twitter in english and in french : http://twitter.com/jeanlucr

Nancy 02 Jul 08

I like http://twitter.com/kenburnstein for funny Haiku

Jordan Wollman 02 Jul 08

I personally follow:

http://twitter.com/guykawasaki
http://twitter.com/SethGodin
http://twitter.com/Twitterrific <—My favorite Twitter App
http://twitter.com/jeffwollman <—Going to be huge

And of course, my personal favorite ;)
http://twitter.com/jordanwollman <—Shameless self promotion

Larry 02 Jul 08

Ok, I get some applications of twitter, like the bridge thing is cool.

But as a social medium I don’t get the usefulness of it. Does anyone else agree that as a whole it is a time suck? Maybe I am just old

Martin Polley 02 Jul 08

If you like @hotdogsladies, you should definitely follow the other @ylnt guys—@scottsimpson and @lonelysandwich.

Gary R Boodhoo 02 Jul 08

Larry, your comment makes it a bit less awkward to state that that I don’t get Twitter at all. Am hoping its not revolutionary or anything :)

Adrian 02 Jul 08

Surprised diablocody (of Juno fame) has not been mentioned. A little quiet of late, and frequently naughty. But when she is on, she is awn.

Arun 02 Jul 08

I like this chap’s tweets.

Soyapi 02 Jul 08

My favourite is @techmeme (twitter.com/techmeme).

I have good internet access only at work so when I knock off, I still get an idea of what the tech community is talking about via sms, without getting too many duplicates of the same story.

Receiving sms tweets is free in Africa, FYI .

Larry 02 Jul 08

I like the short and snappy wine reviews by Small Sips. The cool thing about the review format is that they are automagically picked up by Loudervoice.com.

Riddle 02 Jul 08

<a href="http://twitter.com/nostrich">nostrich</a> and beep.

And I don’t want to see @37signals, I’d be more interested in 37s team members tweeting in their personalized streams. :) That would be awesome.

Christen Dybenko 02 Jul 08

Tara has been tweeting much longer than most – always has a nice mix of content with fun.

http://twitter.com/missrogue

Mike McCallister 02 Jul 08

There’s more to Twitter than laughs (though there is that).

Andy Carvin (@acarvin) does new media for National Public Radio and tweets through tech conferences and presidential campaign events.

@NewMediaJim is a cameraman in the NBC Washington Bureau and is nearly always in interesting places. You can watch the Nightly News and tell friends and family how hard it was to get that shot.

Brendon Cromwell 02 Jul 08

Cookbook is awesome! An entire recipe in 140 characters or less. The creativity in abbreviating and in finding simple recipes is genius. An excellent example of how constraints force creativity.

http://twitter.com/cookbook

BJ Nemeth 02 Jul 08

@Gruber usually has some interesting background info for Daring Fireball, but his wife, @AmyJane, has some of the best tweets out there. If I had to choose between them, I’d keep Amy Jane in the feed.

Of course, some of her best tweets are the words and actions of their son, Jonas. But she sticks to the ‘A’ material, leaving out the annoying cutesy stuff that a lot of new parents get overly excited about.

Also, @HotDogsLadies and @SoupySales always keep me laughing. I don’t know if Soupy Sales is the real deal or not, but I like to believe that it is. (And if it isn’t him, I’d rather not know.)

http://twitter.com/amyjane http://twitter.com/gruber http://twitter.com/hotdogsladies http://twitter.com/soupysales

Craig Moser 03 Jul 08

Twitter is down/overloaded/unavailable 99.9% of the time… how can you actually determine a favorite feed to follow?

Kevin Makice 03 Jul 08

I use Twitter primarily for local community connection, with about 300 people in the Bloomington, Indiana area using the service in some capacity.

For new information from people not in the area, I tend to rely on Twine and blogs more than Twitter. However, I find the most relevant tweets coming from

hci dhinchcliffe

I would add http://twitter.com/comicmix to that list, but they follow no one and use Twitter purely as an RSS feed.

Vicky H 03 Jul 08

I use twitter for quite a few things.

1. Follow early, early adopters and get their opinions on new things (within a day or two). 2. Follow other people interested in the same technologies, discussions, ect.. 3. Fun stuff (raising hell) 4. Local newspaper, social listings in my city. Finding local people also. 5. Hear about peoples posts when their just put up, commenting early & being part of an almost live conversation. 6. Hearing what others (not competitors, but people in the same area) are doing, writing about, experimenting with, ect.. 7. Reading posts/articles recommended instead of plowing through the s*it. There almost always brand new to 2 days old. Better than something written 6 mos. ago. 8. Quick answers to questions about almost anything. 9. Listening to other peoples crazy, intrepid conversations while reading my own. 10. Very good for small business seeking to get recommendations, meet others, what works, ect.

daelx 05 Jul 08

I like YouQuoted They tend to select a great quotes or two everyday. Nice to get that random motivation when I didn’t even know I needed it.

Jarin Udom 07 Jul 08

At work we use a private Twitter account with all of our Beanstalk SVN projects tied into it, so the developers can all keep track of commits without the messages cluttering up Basecamp.
