This is an interesting article. The value in Twitter’s approach is obvious. Build the community first, monetize later.

It’s amusing to think that a company like Yammer could copy Twitter and be able to win. I say this now, but seriously – look at Facebook.

I like how everyone (not just you N!ck) says they “copy Twitter” – they weren’t the first to do this – but that gets forgotten when they became the most popular.

Good luck to them – the business model is the most important thing.
