haha :D

That’s a killer favicon. I’ve always loved it.
James Head 29 Nov 06
um. you might need to take a little break from the computer :) go join meatspace for a bit.
David 29 Nov 06
Half your posts are self-referential
beto 29 Nov 06
Slow day huh?
Richard 29 Nov 06
It’s uncanny…
Chin 29 Nov 06
What the hell? Thats not even funny.
Nathan Roberts 29 Nov 06
Come on, when’s the last time a just-plain-goofy post like this has been made? Of course it’s funny!
Peter 29 Nov 06
Wow, the item in the picture does not even resembles his favicon.
How is it even close to being similar?
I am pretty sure Jason is the only one who appreciates your post, for all the added traffic his site is seeing.
The Internets 29 Nov 06
It’s amazing how svn is turning a little diggish, all the uninteresting things and none that can catch anyone’s interest.
ML 29 Nov 06
Just a silly little joke folks. Let’s not take it too seriously.
AB 29 Nov 06
In Arabic we call that “favicon” Tanween, just a little info.
Jason Santa Maria 29 Nov 06
Wow, the pitchforks and torches come out when it isn’t a product launch day :D
Tanween 29 Nov 06
I dont get it? Who’s in the picture anyway?
Walter 29 Nov 06
Yes, another silly post, not really funny, not really informative, not really useful, not really necessary.
As I’ve already pointed out later this week, you seem to have run out of interesting topics. Now, you post only for the sake of posting. Something. Anything. Making noise instead of making sense. Quantity instead of quality.
Maybe, you should take a vacation…
Walter 29 Nov 06
No more Signal… only Noise.
Signal vs. Noise readership 29 Nov 06
We have no sense of humor. And no life either. We’ll ignore the fact that the colors are pretty damn close. We want more insight about the web. Scratch that, we’ll just slam you for that too.

If you don’t like the content of this blog, demand your money back! After all, with the good money you’re spending you should expect a higher quality of content.
Brad 29 Nov 06
I think the most interesting part of this post (although I did the photo pretty funny), are the comments such as Walter’s above. You’d think he was paying for this or something! I’ve been getting my entertainment lately from the anti-37S folk out there. Just the other day I was looking for something on the Basecamp Forum and came across a women that kept slamming 37S for putting ads at the top of the Dashboard screen. That she is paying for this (assume not the free account) and she should not have to see System announcements! That its disrupting her work! haahaa. I nearly wet myself. Can’t make everyone happy I guess.
bv 29 Nov 06
i actually think it’s rather funny. people need to lighten up. it’s called humor and some people get it others don’t. no worries. at least it’s not your favicon they’re after! peace. bv.
Eric Puidokas 29 Nov 06
Come on guys. Let’s cut Jason some slack. He’s already got us MSU students on his back telling him how to design.
Erik 29 Nov 06
The funniest part of this post is the title. I saw that in NNW and thought, “I really should check this out. Who protests a favicon.” There’s something inherently funny about the terms “favicon” and “protest” existing in the same title. Thankfully this was a funny post. If it wasn’t, I’d be bashing you like some of the other commenters. After all, if I don’t enjoy every single post in your free blog, I deserve to be pissed. ;)
alvin 29 Nov 06
Funny thing is most (i should say all) pitchforkers and torchers didn’t even bother to provided a link back.
Ok maybe it’s not that funny but still….
asdf 29 Nov 06
Funny!
Don Schenck 30 Nov 06
OH DEAR GOD ! You’ve OFFENDED someone!
Quick … somebody call … somebody … anybody. Just call.
Sheesh.
Jeff Croft 30 Nov 06
All of you that are getting your panties in a bunch over this need to Get Real™.
(I’ve always wanted to tell someone to Get Real™ on SvN, and this is the only time I can remember not being the voice of dissent here at 37s, so it seemed like the right time and place.)
Seriously, though—lighten up. It’s a blog, not the Chicago Tribune.
Can't Design 30 Nov 06
Jason Santa Maria’s favicon looks like three nicely polished turds.
Bobby 30 Nov 06
Funny or not, like it or not, your gotta admit… for a bunch of web experience experts you guys have been way off the mark lately.
Jay 30 Nov 06
I’m also quite offended, but I can’t get up off the floor to do anything about it because I am laughing so hard that my stomach ulcers are starting to hurt me again~
Don Schenck 30 Nov 06
Mmmm … Spam ….
Beerzie Boy 30 Nov 06
Very funny. Walter, you seem a little uptight; may I suggest a little vacation?
Blake 30 Nov 06
LOL , well we all have different tastes in humor…
Joshua Lane 30 Nov 06
Anyone else enjoying the fact that the actual posting of the favicon protest, is now causing a protest among SVN readers? Oh delicious irony…
Walter 30 Nov 06
Brad – “You’d think he was paying for this or something!”
From an ethical point of view, what an awful thing to say: 37 signals supporters cannot express disappointment when the quality slips. They needs to buy literally with money the right to speak up. In other words, it doesn’t matter if one cares about SVN enough to wish for improvements. “Be complaisant or… shut up. No complaints allowed if you don’t show a heap of $$$ first.”
alvin Funny thing is most (i should say all) pitchforkers and torchers didn’t even bother to provided a link back.
No, not funny. Actually, really sad. People learn very fast how things work here. This blog is a promotional tool for 37 signals, which it’s perfectly legitimate and I’m okay with it. However, some regular commentators (which I’m tempted to call sect followers more than anything else) don’t allow the slightest divergence of opinion. “Don’t say anything against our beloved blog or you’ll be shun. You are either 110% with us or an heretics.”
Don Schenck – OH DEAR GOD ! You’ve OFFENDED someone!
It’s amazing how some of you can only think in terms of black or white. Grey areas exist. Nobody was offended. The joke was poor and the post subpar. Can you understand that? Apparently not. You are to busy defending the reputation of SVN . “Oh dear Web gods! Some readers had divergent opinions. This can be allowed! We need to ridicule they. They are a treat.” Don’t worry, Matt and his colleges will all survive just fine, without your help.
I will still read SVN , from time to time… but not as often. To much noise lately. Not enough signal.
Dan 01 Dec 06
Thanks for saying “too much noise, not enough signal” again.
Dan 01 Dec 06
And yeah, I blew it filling out this comment form.
Smith 01 Dec 06
Totally worthless, and not even remotely funny. It doesn’t even look the slightest bit like his favicon.
Don Schenck 01 Dec 06
Hey Walter … your grammar and typos are fantastic. Good use of sarcasm.
What? You weren’t being sarcastic?
Sorry … didn’t mean to offend you. I’ve just been much “to” busy.
:-)
chas 01 Dec 06
Keep on commenting everyone! This deserves some in depth analysis!
Yo Baby 01 Dec 06
What’s with the sensible cardigans at a protest march?
Serdar Kilic 02 Dec 06
Well, maybe they are supporting Jason’s favicon :)
KJ 05 Dec 06
