[Preview] 37signals Accounts + The Launchpad Sep 29
25 comments Latest by Andrew Wilkinson
A little over a month ago we (almost) introduced 37signals Accounts — our new single sign-on (and more) system. Development continues, but we’re closing in on the start of the transition. More on this in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, we wanted to show you one of the cool things that comes with every 37signals Account: The Launchpad.
The 37signals Launchpad will list all the accounts you have on Basecamp, Highrise, Backpack, and Campfire. You’ll see the Launchpad if you sign in at 37signals.com and you use multiple 37signals products (Basecamp and Highrise, for example) or have multiple accounts on a single product (two or more Backpack accounts, for example).
In time we’ll be adding more functionality to the Launchpad, but here’s a video demonstrating the basics you can expect when we launch:
We hope you enjoyed the preview. Stay tuned for more information regarding the launch of 37signals Accounts.

Fantastic!

Are you going to open this up in an api so users can login to other apps as well?
John Holdun 29 Sep 09
Ooh. That’s pretty.

Wow… that’s pretty slick! Nice work.

Yes, yes – but when can we expect it?

Very pretty and clean.
I second Derek’s question: API so that I can have a link to my Freshbooks account, or Pulse account? I think I would have my new default web page for Safari…
Either way I’m really looking forward to this integration.

Let me be the first to give the obligatory: “Absolutely Brilliant”

Looks great but it looks a bit like overkill for the problem being solved – with the dragging and dropping and whatnot.

I think it is very cool and in the right direction. Will you also support SSL connections to all free accounts across all your products? You have already done that in Basecamp and I think you said you were also going to do the same in the rest of the products too.

I second Ben Edwards, overkill.

Looks pretty nice. Might be slightly overkill but at the same time, if you have many accounts; being able to organize them for your muscle memory is a nice touch.
One question I have is that this might not look as pretty when you have not as many accounts; I feel like it might look a bit empty.

Looks great. Looking forward to the launch.

This looks like a great improvement!
This would be an awesome tool paired with Fluid. It could be your gateway into all of your 37s sites.

Any plans to enable links to integrated third-party tools like ProofHQ?
Lee Graham 29 Sep 09
That’s sexy!

Very cool, can’t wait!
It might be neat to have an optional screen that would aggregate certain updates across apps (e.g. Backpack’s Newsroom and Journal, and Highrise’s dashboard feed).

Reeks of TweetDeck.

Too much empty space??

With the possibility to add other apps such as Google Mail, Google Docs, CMS backend, Beanstalk, Campaign Monitor etc. this will be a really awesome start page for groups built around web software.
Doing it the Apple way won’t make it a success I think.

Maybe not as cool but we built something similar a while ago. Feel free to use until this one is up ;) www.launchdeck.co.za

Nice work! Unfortunately I don’t have that many accounts (Basecamp & Campfire) to take full use of LaunchPad.
Don Schenck 30 Sep 09
Well done, Jason.

Well done, Jason.
Credit for what you see here goes to Ryan and Sam. Other people pitched in as well, but Ryan and Sam made it happen.
