Always interesting to see western and eastern characters intermingling.

Ha ha! And it reveals the important words.

Looks like the main points of David’s talks didn’t get lost in translation.

I don’t understand the stance since you guys accepted investments from Bezos:

Could you shed some light on this?

If you think the English is bad, you don’t want to know what the characters say.

Gary: We oppose funding to start a company. We’re not opposed to funding down the road if you have specific motivations. But we believe money up front sets up the wrong habits.

I might be wrong but I have always looked at the deal with Jeff Bezos as more to have him on board as an advisor, than because 37signals really needed the money.

I see Y Combinator in a similar way: the money given is not what will make or break the startups, but the exposure, advice and networking are a huge boost.

OK I am the guy who wrote the tweet. Seems western and Eastern is not much different. 37signals are pretty popular, even in smaller cities in China. A lot of my friends’ startup embrace the ideas of 37signals, I am like how DHH thinks about VC and his philosophy to grow a company.

KevinYang1981, I thought it was really cool that you tweeted about our ideas. What I find even cooler is your ability to type in 2 different character sets while still managing to communicate the main point. Thanks for writing!

@KevinYang1981, would you, please, translate the rest for us? You made me curious.

Google Translate (from Chinese):

I’ve done translation English <=> Chinese in the past. So, here is my translation of the Chinese to English:

So DHH ’s attitude for VC is to just fuck off. The two companies that he worked for before joining 37Signals went belly up, all because of VC’s involvement. So, DHH is strongly against VC.
