Quoted by Jamie on April 23 2010:

I’d rather be challenged by somebody, rather than have somebody say, ‘Dude, where are you going to have drinks after the show?’ I love a spirited debate as much as anybody. I even like being wrong, if something can make a good case … on something. In a lot of ways, that’s what I do professionally, traveling. I’m confronted by my own ignorance or misunderstandings all the time.

I once started writing a paper on the “10 Misuses” of an analytical tool I had a hand in developing. As part of my research for the paper I asked users about how they used the tool. Turned out they were “misusing” it right and left and getting good, solid, replicable results. I never finished or published that paper.

As a result, a theologically minded friend of mine thanked me for my metanoia. That’s the most erudite compliment I’ve ever received, so I treasure it, remember it, and try to live up to it.

Love that. “Certainty is the mother of fools” – Patrick Jane on the Mentalist last week :)

I was reminded of my own ignorance and conclusion jumping yesterday when I was watching my own mini Chuck marathon. 4 years ago when Chuck (a tv show on NBC ) was being advertised, I ridiculed it. Looked terrible to me. I though it was going to get 4 episodes tops. :) Now it’s one of my favorite shows.

I’ve read two of his books, love the guy. He’s got a nose for reality…
