Probably goes without saying, but for those with little to no experience with flyover states, the circular patterns emerge due to the irrigation systems, which rotate (powered by the water pressure in fact!) on a central mount in the middle of the field. The corners are “neglected” and used for service roads, growing weed, etc.

Think of a clock, where the face is the field and the hands have water spraying downward.

Are the different colors within the circles different crops? i though most farms now-a-days just grows one crop…or two, corn and soy. cool photos anyway. i always thought flying over the suburbs near the airports look like circuit boards.
