Today I knew more?

Brian 14 Aug 10

because yesterday I was too busy trying to fix schedules and appease parents for the upcoming school year…today I get to be human and think for myself!

Nobby 14 Aug 10

Because you can’t do anything yesterday, or tomorrow for that matter. Only now. Had I had the idea yesterday it would have been today then…

Jota Tres 14 Aug 10

Because today is the tomorrow that i was so worried about yesterday

Victor Scott 14 Aug 10

Because today I decided to focus my attention on the problem that needs solving.

mc 14 Aug 10

Yesterday was Friday the 13th, and I was too busy fighting off zombies.

Tom 14 Aug 10

Yesterday I wasn’t pissed.

RudySF 14 Aug 10

Today is tomorrow’s yesterday.

Will 14 Aug 10

What idea?

David William Edwards 14 Aug 10

Sometimes all the right notes haven’t been played yet to complete the phrase and often we haven’t been quiet enough to hear them.

Javier 14 Aug 10

Beacuse today… is THE day.

Eric Hayes 14 Aug 10

Yesterday’s thinking prepared the way for today’s.

EH 14 Aug 10

I was having other ideas then.

Jim Ray 14 Aug 10

David William Edwards has the best answer so far. Brian’s was the most honest, and mc’s the funniest.

What? We’re not supposed to vote on the best answers? This isn’t Slashdot?

Daniel 14 Aug 10

Why didn’t you post this yesterday?

Michiel Sikkes 14 Aug 10

Ideas have a selection procedure for which human they pick to have it. Bureaucracy even in our shared subconscious.

Sean 14 Aug 10

Yeah, but how are you going to execute your idea?

Ricardo Sanchez 14 Aug 10

Because that idea was the next in line…

RF 14 Aug 10

I gotta second “Why didn’t you post this yesterday?”

Brade 14 Aug 10

mc wins the thread

Peregrine Solus 15 Aug 10

Why are you asking today instead of yesterday?

Peregrine Solus 15 Aug 10

And why am I commenting today instead of yesterday?

Bob Cavezza 15 Aug 10

I second that Brade, MC wins.

Chris 15 Aug 10

Because the deadline was yesterday.

Gavin 15 Aug 10

Because yesterday I turned off and didn’t worry about ideas.

Ryan 15 Aug 10

Today is a day that I am inspired and open to the idea.

Another Daniel 15 Aug 10

I did have that idea yesterday, but you just never asked! You just don’t care about me anymore!

JaySchu 15 Aug 10

Because Cobb & team didn’t perform the Inception on me until last night…

Łukasz 15 Aug 10

Yesterday I was drunk.

andrei 15 Aug 10

what idea?

Ann 15 Aug 10

Because the problem didn’t need to be solved yesterday.

Joe 15 Aug 10

Because I showered today.

Michael 15 Aug 10

At least I didn’t have it tomorrow. Sheesh!

Lance Jones 15 Aug 10

There is no today or yesterday. Only different vantages of Now.

manuel 15 Aug 10

I fill even worse because I did have that idea yesterday, but I didn’t make it real, and even worse I have today the idea of tomorrow but I don’t know how make it real now… Conclusion: the worse thing that can happen to you (me) is to have the idea of tomorrow with the lack of knowledge to make it…

Hasan 16 Aug 10

I didn’t.

Ideas don’t come out of the blue on one specific day or moment, you build them on top of a whole bunch of disconnected thoughts, which come from things you saw or read or experienced over a period of time.

I can never think of some idea I had and say, yes, I thought of that idea on such and such day.

Joe 16 Aug 10

Today I had that idea because I had the conversation, saw the person, heard the ad, was in a particular environment, played with the app, browsed the website, or observed something interesting.

I took a second to think about what I saw/heard/felt/experienced and then applied that principle to a problem I was trying to solve.

Jona Fenocchi 16 Aug 10

Because today I…

1. Encountered a new problem. 2. Was inspired by a work/individual. 3. Discovered/learned something new. 4. Drank 3 cups of coffee instead of 2. 5. Needed a paycheck. Badly. ;-)

Alfredo 16 Aug 10

I did actually had that idea yesterday, but there was no internet talk about it.

Tellman 16 Aug 10

Read “Strategic Intuition” by William Duggan. Good explanation for the question.

Sebastián 17 Aug 10

because today i’ve visited and readed useit.com articles (after a long time without doing it). it’s so clear and concise that helped me to think clearer.

graham 17 Aug 10

Wordsworth would say I needed leisure time to digest the information. Check out the introduction to Lyrical Ballads for an explanation.

Chris Finken 17 Aug 10

Frame of mind today and engaging conversation last night have triggered some new ideas that just weren’t quite ready yesterday.

Gregor McKelvie 18 Aug 10

Because the guy I stole it from today didn’t tell me about it yesterday :P

Nick Floyd 20 Aug 10

I didn’t have the itch I needed to scratch yesterday.
