Did you take that pic with a Lomo?

I always laugh when I see pictures of tech companies (especially “virtual” ones) having face-to-face meet ups—everyone sitting around on their phones instead of actually talking to each other. ;) Of the ten or eleven people visible in that picture, at least five or six are intent on a mobile device or laptop.

(Full disclosure: this often happens when we meet at the Mashable offices, too—so I’m totally not above this behavior.)

It feels weird not being there with you all. Hope you have a great meetup.

Good thing everyone got together to look at their iPhones :)

Most of the people using their phones were adding the code to our office door to their contact info so they could get in and out easily. Our face to face time is pretty cherished in reality, so we don’t spend a lot of time mobilizing.

A bunch of geniuses in a room.

AAK 16 Aug 10

What camera was this taken with?

Dave 17 Aug 10

What type of metal was used to make the chairs your sitting on? lol

Greg 17 Aug 10

That’s a “new” office. Ouch

Brendan 17 Aug 10

Who should I contact about featuring the workspace on my site?

Prajwal Tuladhar 17 Aug 10

I hope this meeting won’t last more than 30 minutes ;)

Just curious, but is Sarah the only woman employed there?

$13 – Purchase the book REWORK and learn how to have productive meetings

2000 – # of hours I’ve spent reading this blog

..........

PRICELESS – Company who wrote REWORK has unproductive meetings.

Its not a meeting – its a “meetup” – completely different!

Poor Sarah must either be in heaven or hell. LOL

GeeIWonder 17 Aug 10

“lot of time mobilizing”

Boo to this. Boo. Boo!

Don Schenck 17 Aug 10

Considering Sarah a friend as I do (and, I believe, she feels the same way toward me), I think I can safely say that Sarah can handle herself.

Congratulations, Jason … and All The Best,

Yes, I’m the only female at 37signals. Usually I’m the only one who wears a dress to work.

(Usually.)

Big office space, meetings (or “meetups”), more people – it’s just not the same 37s.

In next few years they will change from “local shop” to “Wal-Mart”. So obvious and natural.

Anyway, congratulations!

Sausage party! :)

Leo 19 Aug 10

I think there should be “no texting” around the friend zone. Seems like at least 3 or 4 people are looking at their phones.
