I found it a little confusing at first – is this a movie? Can I click on it? But afterwards, I knew the feature was there. Given the interface constraints it makes more sense than a flash message. Well done facebook.

I found it funny that their first release with the places feature didn’t contain this. Then the update later that afternoon included this introduction of the ‘places’ feature. I love it. However, if you are going to do it. Do it in the initial release.

I agree with Matt Sanders. On top of that, the feature did not work in my area when I went to first use it. That could be why they weren’t highlighting it yet.

I noticed this and thought it was a great idea. It really makes sense to do something like this when you want to promote a feature you’re hoping everyone will use.

Someone pointed out to me that the icon looks like the number 4 in a square. Coincidence?

Isn’t this what the Mac’s System Preferences window does when you search?
