DHH is a riot …

The largest pool by far is: I would not hire you to sweep my floors. Like, it’s just, I don’t even know how to put words to it. I was just astonished how bad it was.

Sad but true comment of the week.

I don’t know what quality of people you’ll get if your filter is to try and find people who spend all day applying to work at your company. But they’ll either be desperate or fanboys, likely both.

Hate to say it, but that’s not what made 37 Signals (learn to spell your own company name.) It was hiring DHH and letting him tinker for a year on your static website. He built Ruby on Rails, people were looking for a new language to try, and the rest is history.

Try to picture another David begging for an opportunity to lick your boots, and it will tell you how likely lightning is to strike your company again.

It was interesting to read the transcript of this episode AFTER applying for a position at 37 Signals.
