CSV2vCard helps import contacts from Excel into Highrise
Highrise imports contacts from Outlook and ACT but not Excel. But there’s a way around this: You can save Excel spreadsheets as CSV files (or get a CSV file from another unsupported source) and use CSV2vCard to make vCards, which Highrise accepts.

“All I have to say is: wow. SO MUCH EASIER. All I do is e-mail everyone a link to the public page and boom, I’m done. I can even take pictures on my phone and e-mail them (and list additions) to the page and have it updated for me. Fan-freakin’-tastic.”

RE: Wishlist on Backpack -

Isn’t it very easy for two people to buy you the same gift at the same time? Seems like if there are a lot of people buying you gifts, you’re asking for trouble.

Joe, Actually, my wife and I use backpack for our childrens’ X-mas and birthday wish lists. We simply set up the list as a list and people can check off things when they buy them (or plan to buy them) so other people know those items are taken care of. It also helps us fill in the gaps so we know what people have already gotten.

Our only issue has been getting people to sign up for backpack accounts to be able to view the page—some people are resistant to that.

You cannot use the cool Basecamp template (like the one pictured) with Nourish for free. You can get the standard output from Nourish with the free account, but you have to pay to use custom templates. The post on using Nourish with Basecamp implies that this is free… at least that was my impression, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.

Sorry for any confusion Chris, but you’re correct. We provide a very basic template to all free accounts. Custom templates are only possible with our paid accounts.

If its any consolation, we made our initial blog post about our Basecamp+Nourish mashup before we had the custom template. We actually made the custom Basecamp template specifically for the 37Signals blog post, just to give people a little something extra.

Again, sorry if the post was misleading. It wasn’t our intent, and I’m sure it wasn’t the intent of 37Signals either.

Count me as another who uses Backpack for disseminating my Christmas list! It’s really perfect for it.
