That’s very cool!
At first, I thought there was some kind of propeller and that the “arms” were mostly there for the beauty of it, but it does get up with them, right? Very nice…

very nice. something else i liked about the video is how the music, directing, and editing are used to reinforce the abstract concept of ‘floating’.

I wonder how long it holds the helium, and how the recharge is managed. Pretty Hypnotic.
Imagine the applications! Just kidding.
Might be a fun project for a class though—take some balloons and add some tentacles. Could do a thing on positive vs. neutral buoyancy, etc. Hmm.

It’s pretty cool but not as good as their Manta Ray:

Their artificial arm is pretty impressive, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVg6xKHJKY4&feature=related

Hey thanks for linking my video. I am still trying to get some more information about the AirJelly in English. Just have an eye on my Blog http://airshipworld.blogspot.com in the next few days. If you have questions just send them to me I am German and can translate the information Festo provided.

it’s intriguing, isn’t it. Here you can find an english article on the project and why the jelly is a tool for Festo to Grow Smart http://tinyurl.com/6s9jms There is also a cool discussion going on with links to similar projects like a robotic air stingray (airray)
