Rework + Crush It! Promo Jason F. Oct 13

35 comments Latest by Traian

Like the rest of the world, we’re big Gary Vaynerchuk fans. So when Gary asked us if we wanted to team up with him to sell some books, we said HELL YEAH WE DO.

So here’s what Gary and I came up with:

  • Buy a copy of Rework and Crush It! together and you’ll get access to a private 3-hour video Q&A session.
  • Buy five copies of each and you’ll get access to the Q&A session + a free ticket to a day-long business seminar with Gary and me in Chicago (exact date/location TBD, but after Rework is launched March 9, 2010).

Get the details and check out promo at the Crush It! site. We hope you enjoy the books, and thanks for supporting both of us!

That include a ticket to Chicago? :)

kb 13 Oct 09

If i got a ticket for travelling from Germany – I’m in :D

Or is this limited to inside US only?

Jason Wietholter 13 Oct 09

Awesome! Thanks for the opportunity. Looking forward to both books and the seminar!

Nick Howell 13 Oct 09

I just purchased both books and I am wondering if the Q&A session will be available to view online after it has happened. I already know I won’t be able to watch/participate as it happens live but would still like to view it later.

What do I get if I buy Rework + Crush It! + FAIL Nation? :)

Mark 14 Oct 09

What would make this really special would be a combination of the approaches of 37signals and the Fail blog. Why limit the incentives to one winner with one hour or thousands of winners competing for their comment to be noticed in a 3 hour window? Seems to go against the very grain of what you both stand for.

Instead, what about offering the first x number of book purchasers a specific time slot in that three hour window? Do it via a video chat (ala a reworked tinychat type app) where it becomes a truer one on one (or two as it is) experience, instead of video to text.

Both of you guys are big on preaching your manifesto to the masses, and you do a great job with it. But eventually, preachers have to come down off the platform and engage personally. This could prove to be an awesome way of doing this, while pushing the status quo of online live conversations similar to this.

Just a thought.

Sorry about the Jets, Gar.

subbu 14 Oct 09

Ah!! When did you publish your new book? I didn’t know that. Is there a PDF version that I can buy?

Brade 14 Oct 09

He should write a follow-up book called “Cruisin’ on Name Recognition!”

BillP 14 Oct 09

Done… Thanks for the opportunity!

Lalit 14 Oct 09

I don’t quite agree with the logic of Crush It. It is extremely sad that the only way Americans are able to sell software products is thru’ a click ad model.

I call it great american brain drain. Loss of knowledge in return of eye-ball.

Mart 14 Oct 09

You gonna be able to get a word in edge ways in that 3 hours Jason? ;)

Teddy 14 Oct 09

I’ve never been able to find Gary Vaynerchu actual family winery.

Does anyone know what wine his family makes?

Darren Marshall 14 Oct 09

You guys should make that “Pre-order it on Amazon!” link stand out more—there’s almost no contrast between that and the body text.. Crush It! is getting all the love on this promo with it’s big buy now button.

BS 14 Oct 09

I’‘ll buy 10 of each if you throw in meeting DHH as well!!!

Happy 14 Oct 09

Quite surprised that you’re Gary V fans. His hustle approach seems 180 to yours. He’s said repeatedly that the secret to his success is the 80+ hours/week he puts in: “15 hours a day, grinding, hustling … That’s been able to separate myself.” I don’t doubt him: I think he’s right.

Happy 14 Oct 09

And you know I also love you guys, svn, GettingReal and I look forward to Rework!

Question: The business seminar will be “at the 37signals headquarters in Chicago”. How many people do you think you can fit in there? If it’s at your headquarters, this offer must be space limited. Is it?

JF 15 Oct 09

Happy: I don’t have to agree with everything someone says in order to be a fan of theirs. Gary and I have our differences, but we have a ton more in common. I have huge respect for what he’s accomplished and how he’s accomplished it.

Derek Hollis 15 Oct 09

What if you already pre-ordered the books separately?

Happy 15 Oct 09

JF: I agree. Props to you and Gary.

Brian 15 Oct 09

I’m in Derek’s camp. Is there an address we can send both purchase receipts to?

Jenny 15 Oct 09

For those of you out there that only plan to purchase a single copy of the book … send me your receipt of purchase.

Once I have received 10 receipts, I’ll random select who will get to attend the day long seminar.

Just think, by just buying 1 book you had no chance in getting a free day pass. Now, you’ll have 10% chance (10 people, 10 receipts).

BZ 15 Oct 09

Is there any way to buy rework as a PDF ?

Amazon can’t ship to my retarded country (the customs abduct the 20$ package and ask 100$ to release it. Welcome to Serbia). I’d really like to read it ;)

Peregrine Solus 15 Oct 09

“Like the rest of the world, we’re big Gary Vaynerchuk fans.”

Apparently, I am not of this world.

tepeka 15 Oct 09

Is it just me, or is it kind of lame to be pushing this hard on a book that’s not available for another five months?

Jeff Slobotski 16 Oct 09

Nice offer another set of books that I’ll be handing out to folks far & wide!

Jed 16 Oct 09

I went over to check out the Crush It! sample chapter, and have to echo “Happy’s” surprise that these books are paired up:

...there will be no time for Wii. There will be no time for Scrabble or book club or poker or hockey. There will be time for meals, and catching up with your significant other, and playing with the kids, and otherwise you will be in front of your computer until 3:00 a.m. every night. If you’re unemployed or retired and have all day to work, maybe you knock off at midnight instead. Expect this to be all consuming.

But that’s cool. Just add 4HWW to the package and you’ll have the whole spectrum covered. :)

JF 16 Oct 09

I’m surprised people think you need to agree with 100% of what someone else says, believes, or lives in order to be a fan or have respect for their grand position. If you only support people you agree with 100% of the time then you probably support a very short list of insular people.

Mark 16 Oct 09

@JF Amen, Jason. 100% Amen.

Otherwise Uncontroversial 17 Oct 09

Maybe I’m reading too much cynicism into this post, but it seems to carry an air of contempt for your readers. There’s nothing wrong with a little cross-promotion, but do you have to write about it as if it’s been your lifelong dream to have this month’s “One Minute Manager” help you hawk your books? It feels like you’re being less than honest, or that we’re meant to be impressed by the name-dropping, or… something.

GeeIWonder 17 Oct 09

I am surprised people think you need to agree with 100% of what someone else says, believes, or lives in order to be a fan or have respect for their grand position.

So am I, but I think this one of the dangers of embracing an audience that thinks they’re listening to preachers lay donw tenants of the faith.

I mean Mark’s comment: Amen, Jason. 100% Amen.

Is hardly atypical in this or other threads, and often times you’ll see 50 of them in a row.

Strong positions yield better reading, but when you leave out the nuances, you’ll tend to select for more people looking for easy answers. And more often than not, less interesting discussion.

Something to think about.

Adam Teece 17 Oct 09

I definitely took advantage of this deal for the 3 hour teleconference. Thanks for putting this on and it was cool seeing your Giant Floating Head at LessConf. Thanks for doing that too.

JF 17 Oct 09

Thanks for the order Adam. I really enjoyed the video conference at LessConf. I hope the audio was OK.

Traian 18 Oct 09

This is a really great offer! Especially the one including the seminar! However, I am afraid I’ll have to pass it due to the travel expenses. But I hope that those of you living in Chicago will take advantage of this offer!

All the best, Traian from Covert Hypnosis
