When we needed a creative shop to help us with this year’s holiday gift, we turned to Scott Thomas and his crew at Simple.Honest.Work in Chicago. They did a fantastic job putting together the concept and building, printing, and assembling the final packages.

Anonymous Coward, I lean toward your side. While the music on the video is charming, and craft, in our world, is commendable, this strikes me as just another form of excess—greed with a false overlay of whimsy. How much did it cost to make those books and to send all those customers on a trip? A great PR stunt to be sure, but surely also the gift and gifting of the one percent.

@WonderingWandering I don’t think it was any customers who received the trip. I think the trip was for the 37s employees as a thank you/christmas bonus. To me, it is a GREAT idea to surprise the people who work for you with something unique and far more thought out than simply writing a check.

Dear Wondering, I have no doubt that Jason and David have joined the 1% I also believe they earned every penny of it and applaud them for their ingenuity, ambition and entrepreneurship.
These gifts, although we don’t know whom they were for, were likely not given to others as blessed as they are. The company that made them employs creative, dedicated people who are probably grateful for the patronage of 37Signals.
There is a class crisis going on, and we should not lose sight of it, but Jason and David and the rest of 37Signals are on the right side of that struggle, and this video is proof of that.

To clear up the confusion, this is our xmas gift to all the employees of 37signals. A vacation to one of the destinations on the map arranged and paid for by the company.

Any company who can waste money on this ridiculous gift is making to moo much money and should be giving way more back to its customers. sickening.
